Hi everyone! Thank you for visiting my Walk for Lupus Now page! As many of you know I have been suffering from Lupus (though until last year undiagnosed) for the past 8 years. It ranges from near incapacitating pain, fatigue and mental impairment that keep me from functioning like a normal 26 year old to mild pain and fatigue. I have been working with the Lupus Foundation of America and am participating in the Walk for Lupus Now event this year. I would really love and appreciate your support! Anything that you can give, even if it's just some kind encouragement is much appreciated!
Just as a background of the total issue, here are some facts: It is estimated that 1.5 million Americans have a form of lupus, an acute and chronic (lifelong) autoimmune disease in which the immune system is unbalanced, causing inflammation and tissue damage to virtually every organ system in the body. November 2008 marked 50 years since a drug has been approved for the treatment of lupus. There is hope on the horizon, and with your help we can find better treatments and a cure.
